At Cavendish Park Care Home, every week is filled with laughter, connection, and community – but Care Home Open Week 2025 took things to a whole new level. In collaboration with the Be More Festival, our week became a joyful celebration of care, creativity, and coming together.
Be More is a community-wide initiative focused on encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to live life more fully – to be more active, more connected, more creative, and more engaged. By bringing this energy into our home, we were able to deliver a vibrant programme of events that truly reflected this spirit.

With each day offering something new – from silent discos and intergenerational fun to sparkling Ascot-style afternoons – we opened our doors, our hearts, and our dancefloors to residents, families, neighbours, and friends. Here’s a look back at a week filled with energy, music, and meaningful moments that celebrate what it means to Be More – together.
Day 1 of Care Home Open Week
Dancing into the Week with Our ‘Be More Silent Disco’

We kicked off in glowing style – literally! With wireless headphones on, neon accessories lighting the way, and smiles all around, the residents, team, and visitors hit the dancefloor for a Silent Disco like no other. The room was full of rhythm, laughter, and energy, with everyone dancing like nobody was watching! It was the perfect way to set the tone for a week of joyful experiences.
Day 2 of Care Home Open Week
Tuesday was all about expression and connection. The day began with Julie’s much-loved Makaton session – fun, inclusive, and confidence-boosting for both residents and team members.
In the afternoon, Corrine treated us to a stunning performance on her 200-year-old cello, blending classical favourites with modern requests that had everyone smiling and swaying.
Day 3 of Care Home Open Week
Musical Bingo brought melodies, memories, and plenty of toe-tapping! Residents marked off classic hits and hummed along as familiar tunes filled the room. Each song sparked a story, a smile, or a shared moment!

The fun continued into the afternoon with incredible musical entertainment by Ian James, lifting spirits and getting everyone moving and grooving once again.
Day 4 of Care Home Open Week
On Thursday, we turned up the glamour with our Ladies Ascot Day. Fabulous fascinators, champagne flutes, and sunshine filled the garden as we celebrated Be More Ascot in style. With live music from a saxophonist and guitarist, a delicious spread of canapés, and our very own sweepstake, it was an afternoon to remember.

There was laughter, elegance, and a wonderful sense of togetherness as we celebrated life’s joyful moments.
Day 5 of Care Home Open Week
Giddy Up for a Country and Western Finale!! We rounded off the week with a rootin’-tootin’ good time at our Country & Western Party. The bistro was transformed into the Wild West complete with cowboy hats, wild west décor, and delicious refreshing mocktails.
We even had a visit from the ice cream man, much to everyone’s delight as the sunshine poured down. Live music from Chris Beard kept spirits high and everyone singing along – inside and out.

And in true Cavendish Park spirit, we used the day to do good too – raising funds for Parkinson’s UK through a community raffle.
