In recognition of our commitment to the inclusion of all older people we will shortly be undertaking the ‘Pride in Care’ quality standard managed by older LGBT+ people’s charity Opening Doors London (ODL).
Championed by Care England and with training endorsed by Skills for Care, the ‘Pride in Care’ quality standard is awarded to all organisations assessed as providing quality care and support to older LGBT+ people, a population with less family support that can often be marginalised and neglected in older age.
Majesticare are committed to high quality care for all our residents, creating a person centred care plan, ensuring that we are inclusive, supportive and enabling people to live with freedom of choice, a feeling of value and with purposefulness.
This week. Mel Hoskins, Customer Relations Manager and Cavendish Park LGBTQ+ Champion, talked with Nigel Huddleston MP who was very supportive of our initiative.
“I congratulate Cavendish Park, a care home in Evesham owned by Majesticare, for agreeing to undertake the “Pride in Care” quality standard championed by Care England. The “Pride in Care” standard is awarded to those organisations providing quality care and support to older LGBT+ people. Sadly they are a group who are often forgotten and overlooked during their later years. I support this initiative being taken by Mel Hoskins and the team at Cavendish Park and wish them the very best of luck.”
This week we celebrated Pride Month by holding our very own Pride Festival in the sunshine!
